Biking to Angkor Wat: Day 1, Thailand.

The first day, we get picked up in Bangkok and then drive to the Cantiburi province which is on the border with Cambodia. There's a little bit of biking, but not much.

One place we stop by is Kuk Khi Kai which is Thai for Chicken Dung Cell.

The prison was built by the French in 1893 to hold Thais who resisted the French when they occupied the area.

It's called Chicken Dung Cell because at the time they kept a chicken roost overhead, so when the chickens relieved themselves the prisoners would know it.

Biking along the coast we also came across fishing communities.

They catch small fish, boil them, spread them out on netting, dry them out in the sun.

At the end of the day we came to a city of Cantiburi, which had an open air market, which was like a smaller version of the Pasar Besar in Kuala Terengganu.

One difference I noticed is that in Thailand they sell frogs. Alive or dead, take your pick.

It's like biology class all over again.
