Funny Spelling

Although Bahasa Malay uses the same Latin letters as English, they pronounce the letters quite differently. This leads to funny spellings when a Malay word has English roots.

All of the following images come from a T-shirt advertising the new sports stadium being built in Terengganu. In case you can't tell, the mascot is a Clown Fish with legs. Why a Clown Fish? Well, the official animal of Terengganu used to be a Sea Turtle because Sea Turtles lay their eggs on the beaches here. However the chief minister didn't like Sea Turtles because they are old and slow, so (and I'm not making this up) after Finding Nemo came out, he changed the state animal to the Clown Fish because they are fast and resourceful.
